This past weekend Curt & I headed out on a spontaneous road trip with our good friends Ian & Holly Silva!
We thought it'd be fun to go see Mt. Rushmore & were surprised by much more than that!
Day 1 Friday: Logan to Sidney, Nebraska.
Day 2 Saturday: Sidney to Rapid City, South Dakota
Day 3 Sunday: Rapid City to Cody, Wyoming
Day 4 Monday: Cody back to Logan
I wish I could have a picture of our driving map.
It was a huge loop from Logan thru Wyoming, onto Nebraska, then South Dakota, then back thru Wyoming, a corner of Montana, Idaho, and back home.
The original plan was to hit Colorado on the drive too, but we decided 6 states was plenty(:
This really should be a few different posts but I'm going to cram it all into one; state by state!
(I had to take this picture @ the gas station on the way to Sidney!)
NEBRASKA:
Full of tons of surprises.
Lots of fun, huge tractors.
Tractor graveyards.
and
CARHENGE!!!
Amish buggies.
I LOVED it(:
Another intermission:
The boys were hilarious with the bugs hitting
the front of the rental car.
They were huge though(:
SOUTH DAKOTA:
Watiki Waterpark
Mt. Rushmore
(AMAZING...much more impressive than everyone said!)
Crazy Horse Monument
And 9 Moose later
(only 1 pictured!)
WYOMING:
Yellowstone
(gorgeous scenery, not too much wildlife on our route)
Hot pots
Old Faithful
After about 1600 miles of road, lots of laughing, a little car sickness and great magnets for souvenirs, we made it home & sure had a blast!
Hope we're still friends Silva's(:
Looks like s great trip. You certainly lead an adventurous life.
ReplyDeleteMy relatives live in Wyoming and if you are a nature person its a great place to go. There is a lake named Fisherman's Lake in Wyoming that I particularly love.
Glad you can do things like this

ReplyDeleteHow fun! I loved Yellowstone and we only went to Old Faithful, but we spent the entire day there. Oh and who knew there was a carhenge!!
ReplyDeletenow that is my kind of trip! you go girl!
ReplyDeleteHoly Smokes, that looks like it was a lot of fun! I love it! P.S. How long is the drive to Mt. Rushmore? That sounds like a great idea for an adventure.
ReplyDeleteI love roadtrips! We saw an Amish buggy in Missourri, but not in Nebraska yet, they must not live in Omaha, ha!
ReplyDeleteWe want to see Mt. Rushmore before we move from here and we may need to add carhenge to the list of places to see :)
