Valentine's Day

Overall, we had a very lovely Valentine's Day!

We knew it'd be crazy so we took advantage of the time we had together!

This wasn't actually today, but it's my favorite part of the day, Getting to hold Mr. Curt's hand. He hates the scars on his hands from work, but I love them them & now I can be pick his hand out of any body else's!

We didn't do much in the way of gifts, but Curt had flower petals all over the floor & got me my all time favorite 'apple pie apple' He was so cute and put a ring pop in my engagement ring box!(:

Little did he know that I got him an 'apple pie apple' too! That was a funny moment(: And I put together date cards for the whole year, 1 for each month that he'll be able to open each month and have at least one week planned for! I found a cute idea online to write on the back of each of the 52 cards in a deck reasons why I love him too!

So nothing major this year, but still fun to put together!

Yep, one of the diamonds from my band is GONE!

My heart sank when I saw it and spent much of the rest of my spare time I had at school searching the gym, halls, classroom, etc. No luck, but who knows...maybe it'll show up!

If not I'm so glad it wasn't the bigger one!

Glad to have the perspective of how little material things really matter, but still it kills me to see it sort of 'incomplete' now!

The principal teased me as I was leaving and said that it's just a great excuse to get a new one!!!!

He laughed and said he's on his 4th & his wife has put the hammer down by saying it's the last one too(:

Guess that ring pop will be coming in handy!!

HAS GONE & FOUND HIMSELF A LOVELY LADY!!!

We are thrilled for him and his beautiful fiance.

We've only had the chance to meet her over FaceTime, but can't wait 'til their wedding in April

to give her a big squeeze!

SO happy to have Jessica join the family

& even more happy about how happy she makes Jordan!

Date Nights & the Return of the "Deer Whisperer"

With the semesters new hectic schedule we have

made it a priority to go on a date, just the 2 of us, once a week!

It has been such a blast! We have gone through quite the adjustment only seeing each other @ our workout and then maybe 30 min later that night! We have made up some silly dates that have turned out to be a ball! On 2 of these dates my powers of

being a deer whisperer returned!

This top picture we chased these 8 or 9 deer for a few minutes, I could not stop laughing!

Then we cornered more later @ a different spot!

I'm sure none of you give a hoot, but I guess this post is more for us to look back on and have a good laugh!(:

Student Teaching!

This semester is my last one here @

Utah State & I have made it to student teaching!

It has been a long process getting here, but all I can say is

I LOVE TEACHING!!!

Yes, there are hard days & kids that test every fiber of me,

BUT I just love it.

I guess I'm relieved that I've made it to this point & didn't say to myself, "What in the world was I thinking going into teaching"

I always have some story to tell Curt at the end of the day & I'm so grateful for his listening ear!

I cannot believe I am a 1/3 of the way through!

My sweet parents sent me these BEAUTIFUL flowers that arrived the night before my first day @ the school!

Couldn't have been more perfect!

"Christmas Eve Extravaganza" Games

So a few of you lovely people have been interested in knowing more details about the Christmas Extravaganza we put on so here it goes...

The 1st game we played was

“Christmas Song Pictionary”

Teams of 2; Each team will be given the opportunity to earn points by choosing one member to draw and one member to guess. The drawer will pull one card at a time with a Christmas song on it and w/out using words will draw the Christmas song until his/her partner guesses correctly. Teams will be able to continue playing if they answer correctly until the sand timer. Once all teams have gone through the timer, partners switch places and play another round.

Supplies: White board, marker, Christmas Song cards

2nd

“Reindeer Antler Game” -

Teams of 2; each team will get a pair of pantyhose and balloons. The object is for the teams to make reindeer antlers out of pantyhose and balloons and the first team to put on the antlers and sing ‘Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer’ wins. If there is a tie the one with the tallest antlers wins.
Supplies: 4 pantyhose, 4 balloons/team

3rd

“Christmas Catwalk” (way funnier than we expected!)

Teams of 2; each team will be given a roll of wrapping paper, tape, and scissors. In 15 minutes teams will have to make an outfit of their choice with the supplies. After time is up each team will take turns having one member walk the catwalk & the other member describing the outfit. Teams may choose music to go along with their walk if they choose. Winner can be voted on or rated by applause.

Supplies: 4 rolls wrapping paper, 4 scissors, 4 tape

“Back to Back”

Teams of 2; Have teams sit back to back w/ one member holding an object (strainer, ornament, etc.) & the other member holding pencil & paper. The person that has object describes object w/out revealing to their teammate what it is, therein the teammate will attempt to draw what’s being explained. Team with drawing that matches the object best wins.

Supplies: 4 Pencil & Paper, 8 objects

5th

“Cotton Beard Game”

Teams of 2; Each team will be set up in relay lines vs. other teams. Set up large bowls of cotton balls on the opposite side of the yard from the teams. Have one teammate from each team apply the same amount of vaseline to their fingers. When the timer starts that team mate runs across the lawn to their partner and applies the vaseline to their face in the best way they feel would help the cotton balls stick to form a beard. Then partners run back across the lawn and the partnerships try to get the most cotton balls on their face without using their hands. Partners may help in holding the bowl up to teammates faces. The partner with the beard must run back to their starting position to finish. The team who has the best looking cotton ball beard wins.

Supplies: Vaseline, 4 bowls, Cotton Balls

6th

“Clothes & Gift Wrap Relay”

Teams of 2; Each team will line up in relay lines vs. the other teams. The starting teammate will be set-up at the end opposite of the gift wrap while the other teammate will be set-up by the gift wrap. Clothes will be strewn throughout the path to the gift wrap table and the starting contestant must put on all the clothes in their line before proceeding to the table. Once they get to the table they must wrap the box provided. They then must take off the clothes at the gift wrap station. Then the second teammate will put on all of the clothes and run with the gift to the starting line & there unwrap the gift. The first team to unwrap the gift at the starting line wins.

Supplies: 4 rolls Wrapping Paper, 4 tape, 4 objects to wrap

We modified this game to fit our family! We have a famous Christmas puzzle so we utilized that. Teams started at one end of the lawn and one partner was blindfolded and spun around a bat 5 times and then the partner that was not blindfolded had to guide their partner to the puzzle table. The blindfold had to remain on and this person could not build the puzzle without following the instructions from their teammate! The team with the fastest time won! It was fun to use these puzzles but we had to make the rules the way they were because Cody can build the puzzle siting backwards in no time! It worked out great!

We found all of these game ideas online and modified them to fit our family! We decided to mix up the teams for each game and simply had everyone's name in a hat. We didn't mind if 2 people had already been teammates, we just left it up to the draw. Also, the winners from the games would get to draw for their teammates first for the following game! It turned out SOOOOOOO fun and we made some great memories that will last a good long while!(:

Our past 3 weeks!!!

Curt and I have been so fortunate to have spent the last 3 weeks in beautiful Mesa, Arizona with our wonderful families! So many great things took place and we took lots of pictures so it'll mainly be a post of pictures!

Thanksgiving

Curt's Mom sent me her pictures probably a week ago & I'm just now getting around to blogging Thanksgiving...

Like I said before I totally spaced bringing my camera so this is all we have from the trip, but Im SO grateful for at least one!

Our break was fantastic! We got in early Wednesday morning, I just love seeing the sunrise in Mesa, the silhouettes of the cactus' and the mountains are just beautiful!

A breakdown of the trip:

I got to help my Mom refinish their kitchen cabinets & Curt spent the day with his Dad Wednesday!

That evening we got to go to Matta's with the Dana's which is always so scrumptious!

We had a beautiful Thanksgiving feast with the Dana's Thursday after the boys played football. I learned how to make homemade pies with Curt's Mom and got to be her little assistant in the kitchen. It was all so delicious.

We also got to visit with my parents that evening.

We are so fortunate at how close our families live to each other!

Friday, I got to have a girl day with Curt's mom which was so fun & that night we got to do a session in the Mesa temple with Curt's parents! A huge blessing that I got in...so grateful for the ability to phone Utah to get me in!

It was a great session, have a special place in my heart for that temple!

Then Saturday I got to work on Christmas gifts and help decorate & clean up! We had a fun dinner that night with both of our parents & were also able to see all of our grandparents over the trip too!!!

Sunday we were able to attend sacrament meeting with Curt's family & had dinner with mine and were back in the car just like that!

We are so thankful for all of our many blessing,

especially for our families and the joy of the gospel!

Looking forward to enjoying these things once again at Christmas!

"Tuesday, Tuesday..."

In 7th grade my English teacher would always sing us 'The Tuesday Song' which goes as follows...

We're gonna have a special, special day TODAY!"

then she was so cute and would sing

"Have a good day everybody!"

It certainly has been a good news day...

I woke up early this morning with my heart practically pounding

out of my chest signing onto my account to see

if I passed the PRAXIS test or not.

Thankfully after a minute or two of confusion trying to read the scores I scrolled down to the next page to see

PASSED

I'm one happy girl so thank you to all of you who so kindly sent your prayers my way!(:

On another good note I got to spin to techno Christmas music this morning in class! By far one of the funnest!

Lastly, due to my passing the state exam I was able to register for my last semester of college EVER!

It's kind of a bitter/sweet moment but it sure is a great feeling.

Now I can focus on all the countdowns I have going on!

1. Last day of work = 8 days

2. Home to AZ for Christmas = 9 days

3. PUMPKIN's (Jordan's) arrival!!!! = 14 days

4. CHRISTMAS = 19 days

some pretty exciting stuff going on!

The Deer Whisperer & Our Living Room Adventures

First off, this is so me...

Well, for those of you who know me know that my first encounter with a deer ever in real life was my first year here in Logan. I knew them oh so well that I thought they were 'Big Dogs' throughout the canyon b/c I had no clue they shed their antlers! (In my defense I was raised in AZ with a family who was not into hunting and had only seen one via pictures)

Ever since then I've had this looming ability to see deers all over although I'm terrified of them.

Just this past month I've seen a group of them around the dumpster @ my work, about 12 of them on our drive home from AZ while Curt was sleeping, and the reoccurring deer I see every year in the cemetery on my path to school.

Curt's the one who'd love to see them and rarely does, however I'd be just fine to never see one again. I have this idea in my head that when I'm close to deer/deers they'll charge & pounce!(: I know, ridiculous but I seriously am terrified of that happening! I guess it's from watching those crazy animal's freaking out on people shows!

So the other day walking home from school I again see the famous Cemetery Deer, but this year there is not just one but TWO. Thankfully I'm on the phone with Curt who I thought would comfort me, but oh no he wanted me to take a picture of them. So I mustered up some courage and stepped maybe 2 inches closer than I was and got one on my phone.

I thankfully made it home without an attack and showed Curt the photos. He was disappointed and thought the male deer was much bigger by the way I described him. So he insisted we go on a walk back through the cemetery to have a closer look. I obliged and we got pictures much closer up than I had previously taken.

There was when Curt dubbed me my new nickname

'The Deer Whisperer'

On a more fun note, in my opinion, we decided to re-live our childhood days on Friday night & made a fort in our living room. Curt was so clever with the set-up. I told him that it was my kind of camping, bathroom close, heater close, and the Christmas tree. He made sure the fort was tall enough so we could watch the TV too(: I guess we could call it our winter camping since there's no way I'd camp in 7 degree weather. We woke up with the air mattress half deflated & with sore backs and bodies but sure had a fun time! Curt was so hyper the next day...it was a crack up to watch!

We've decided we want to make it a tradition with our kids to build a fort the first weekend in December and watch a Christmas movie with them. I'm sure by that point in our life we won't stick out the whole night though, I'm sure we'll sneak off to a bed once the kids crash!

Random post, and now you know how ridiculous I am with wildlife, but it'll be good to have to look back on, right?!!

And a Thanksgiving post will be coming soon.

I forgot the 2 most important things: my camera & my temple recommend.

But we did take family pics with the Dana's so I'll post once I get those!

Last weekend Curt & I decided to make a really quick trip home for our October Break! It was really, really quick due to our break only having Friday off school. So after class on Thursday we packed up and hit the road again. By 3 am Friday morning we made it! But we did get some great shots of the fall colors around the canyon on our way out. We love this time of year!

Friday morning we were able to spend time with my parents!

We helped Dad put new plants in the front yard and loved being outside in the warm 90+ degree sunshine! It was HEAVENLY!

It was so much fun working together & afterwards sitting outside in lawn chairs visiting away!

I always love their flowers up the walk!

I'll have to get a better 'after' picture when we're down for Thanksgiving. The one I took had the new plants barely noticeable due to the shade!

Friday afternoon we got to pick up Curt's youngest brother from high school! Then spent the rest of Friday and the majority of Saturday with his family. We enjoyed visiting, taking a ride in the old car, eating @ Matta's, going shooting and having dinner with Grandma & Grandpa Dana!

We also celebrated Curt's birthday with his family! It was so great to spend some time with everyone.

Saturday night we went back to my parents house and had a game night with all the siblings. Everyone but my Dad and myself were sick so it was kinda sad, but we still made it fun!

Then Sunday we relaxed and had a lovely Sunday dinner with an eventful dinner table!!(:

Before we knew it we were on the road again and it all seemed to be a blur): But we are so glad we got to go & are really looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas!

We love this time of year!

Curt's Birthday

On October 15th my sweet husband turned the BIG 25!!!

We had an eventful weekend full of celebrating(:

Not to mention free IHOP, Twizzleberry, and great FRIENDS!

On Friday night (the 14th) we went to Mo' Bettah's Steaks with Jeremy & Candace Christensen! Curt is giving a classic 'why do I always have to take pictures so I'm going to give you a goof ball face'...

Probably by far my favorite frozen yogurt shop!

The 15th, the actual b-day, Curt went fishing in the morning & caught TWELVE fish!!! He did awesome & got great video that I still need to upload!

Then the rest of the day was spent with our dear friends Cody & Jen Gunnell! They made the trip up to Logan & we had a ball!

They were especially helpful in picking out Curt's gift, sound system for our entertainment center. Would have been lost without them!

Then we enjoyed a scrumptious dinner @ The one and only Texas Roadhouse where he was treated by sitting on the saddle while in the mean time as the waiter pulled the overhead lamp to shine in his face a dead fly fell right into his drink! YUM
But kind of a funny memory to look back on!

After dinner we headed on over for some ice cream @ our favorite place called Casper's! No pictures, but it was a great time as always!

Thank you friends for making it such a great weekend for the birthday boy! Sure love you Curt, can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays by your side!

Halloween Decor & Nike's!!!

I would have to say that decorating for Halloween comes really close to how much we love decorating for Christmas! Usually I'll wait 'til October 1st to put the decorations up, but we just couldn't wait this year...just a little behind posting!

I stole the idea for these babies from my dear friend Elizabeth! She does adorable banners and such, didn't have enough ribbon to make them into a banner so I had to improvise a little.!!!

Onto the Nike saga!

For my birthday this year I really wanted to design my own Nike's so I could have some pretty sweet shoes for my student teaching in the spring! I could never justify paying that much $$$ on shoes unless it as my whole birthday! So I designed them early this year and when my b-day came around to order them they wouldn't let me, something about inventory out of order which was crazy cause you make your own! But it worked out for the better, we tried ordering the 1st one's about 5x and then gave up. 3 weeks ago we attempted to design new ones & went to order them & it worked! And I'm one happy girl because they weren't expected for 5 weeks(:

September Visit!

On September 23rd my Mom and her friend Marilyn arrived

here in Logan for my Mom's annual visit! We had a great time full of laughter, great memories, games, general conference, witch days @ Gardner's Village and a HUGE tender mercy, not to mention doing girl things like hair and nails!

(I'll try & explain each picture if needed!)

Friday I went down to SLC w/ Mom & Marilyn to pick up my SIL Steph & niece Lexee! We decided to make an over night trip out of it! So Friday night we ate dinner @ Red Robin (my fvaorite!)

I guess I missed the memo on this picture!

We stayed in a hotel Friday night, I'm sure they were glad to be on a real bed and not an air mattress/couch!

They let me do their hair and nails! I loved it(:

Late Saturday night we met up with Steph & Lexee and came back up to Logan! It took a bit for Lexee to warm up to Curt, it was quite humorous(:

Curt did so well having our little apartment full of 5 girls! He teased and kept saying he was swimming in the estrogen ocean!(:

End of Summer Fun...

We have been super busy with work/Curt's CNA class

but wanted to finish the summer off with some fun!

A couple weekends ago we went to the Cache Valley Fair with our fantastic neighbors/friends Monica & Oliver!

We should have taken some couple shots but didn't get to it so here's Curt with his yummy a.k.a "heart attack in a cup" fair food-and also Curt & Mon riding the swings(:

We had a blast there, I mostly enjoyed the company & people watching of course!

The day after the fair we went ice blocking down old main hill with some other great friends Matt & Holly!

We had a ball and were worn out all at the same time! Afterwards we went and got some yummy Aggie Ice Cream(:

This past weekend we had our ward campout! The food was delicious & Curt's peach cobbler was oh so yummy-we loved getting to know more people in our ward as long as crafting with the Bishop's wife and later shooting skeet!

Curt tried his survival fire making skills again too(:

Our dear friends Jake & Brianna also moved this weekend but before they left we got to watch their adorable little girl! I just wanted to steal her forever(: She is the sweetest little thing.

We also were able to attend her baby brothers blessing, but unfortunately forgot the camera. They will be missed terribly):

We're done working full time-HALLELUJAH!!!

School starts tomorrow and I think this little clip explains just how we feel...

I'm basically Nemo to a "T" and Curt is definitely feelin' like Marlin! I know I'm a Disney movie dork, but it was too perfect! I think I'm the only person in the world to say that I'm quite sad that this will be my last Fall semester ever...

The Dana's Visit-Ammon's a MISSIONARY!!!

This past week Curt & I were lucky enough to have the Dana's come visit before Ammon reported to the MTC. We had a blast and sure were grateful they'd take the extra time to come see us.

They arrived Thursday and then Ammon reported the next Wednesday (August 10th) so we had lots of time to enjoy!

The first part of the week the family spent time with us up here in Logan. We played, the boys fished, Mom & I talked & talked, ate, relaxed and enjoyed each other's company.

Curt wanted Ammon to give him a haircut before he left and insisted on using a 1 on the clippers. We all kept saying "are you sure?" He was sure and then after he heard all of our reactions this was the result...(:

It was a little frightening at first, I thought I was going to have a bald husband, but Ammon did a great job blending it all together.

Monday we all headed down to Salt Lake until Wednesday and had a great time there too. We got to eat at yummy restaurants, have funny moments with each other in the hotel, see the sights and enjoy the temple. Ammon, Curt, Mom & Dad all did a session on Tuesday and Jacob & I got to do baptisms. We all are still in awe with the beauty of that temple. It was so neat!

Wednesday came too fast. We were all able to get Father's blessings and headed down to Provo. Apparently the signs that we all used to take pictures @ in front of the MTC have been removed so these following pictures were as good as we could get!

Wish I would have gotten the pictures from Mom's camera. She got much better one's and after dropping Ammon off we took a beautiful drive up Provo canyon which I spaced taking my camera out!

Now that Ammon's off, Curt & I have 3 brothers out on missions! We're so proud of all of them, especially now for Ammon! He'll do great in Philadelphia!(:

6 STATES in 3ish days...

This past weekend Curt & I headed out on a spontaneous road trip with our good friends Ian & Holly Silva!

We thought it'd be fun to go see Mt. Rushmore & were surprised by much more than that!

Day 1 Friday: Logan to Sidney, Nebraska.

Day 2 Saturday: Sidney to Rapid City, South Dakota

Day 3 Sunday: Rapid City to Cody, Wyoming

Day 4 Monday: Cody back to Logan

I wish I could have a picture of our driving map.

It was a huge loop from Logan thru Wyoming, onto Nebraska, then South Dakota, then back thru Wyoming, a corner of Montana, Idaho, and back home.

The original plan was to hit Colorado on the drive too, but we decided 6 states was plenty(:

We had such an incredible time in Hawaii...it was complete bliss(:

On our plane there, SO EXCITED!

We stayed on the windward/north side of Oahu and on our drive to the condo we past acres and acres of

pineapple fields, definitely a sight to see.

This was the view we woke up to the first morning.

Sure am missing that now!

The first stop on our trip of the week was visiting Pearl Harbor.

Such a somber place to visit. But makes me so grateful for what those men sacrificed for us, especially this time of year!

The next day we took a beach day and enjoyed the sun and snorkeling. I think it's Curt's new love. Every morning we'd be up a little before 6 and he'd be out in the water just snorkeling around. It was so fun watching how excited he'd get!

It was awesome, the condo was not even 20 ft. away and most days we were the only ones out there!

The next adventure we went on was to the Polynesian Cultural Center! Oh, we had so much fun...and had great food and enjoyed such an amazing evening show!

I was so happy we were able to go to the New Zealand section of the PCC and get to see Dad reliving part of his mission history!

We went to a luau that night and they surprised us (and a group of about 10 other couples) and made everyone who was celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary get up on the stage and have a dance! It was actually our 1st dance in front of people, never did dance @ our reception. So it was kinda fun!

The next day we went over to Waimea Bay and snorkeled, but first stopped and had lunch. The lady there warned us about the peacocks, but this one, we named Oscar came over, circled our table, hopped on up, and began eating moms fries. It was hilarious and I was sure proud of mom for not freaking out!

Thursday we had another beach day & did some shopping and then Friday we celebrated our 3rd anniversary!!! And Dad got to go scuba diving while mom shopped and got her nails done.

So Curt & I went on this tour that took us on a hidden waterfall hike, kayaking and ziplining.

The ad made it sound so incredible, and it was fun, but not amazing. Now that it's over we are sure glad we tried it!

On the kayak portion, I was a little nervous to begin with b/c of a prior experience but thought it'd be much better this time b/c I'd be tandem with Curt.

It wasn't as scary but we decided to kayak out to that island clear in the back of this picture...bad idea! It took us over an hour just to get there(: Then we only had time to hop in the water real quick to cool off & make our way back so we didn't miss lunch. The way back though was much better!

Curt sure was a trooper with my wimpy self, I was too afraid to look down b/c I thought something would come up! haha, I'm so used to unclear water(:

Close to the end of our trip we got to do a session & sealings at the Laie Temple. The pictures sure don't do it justice.

The last night mom & I were grabbing dinner and found this awesome shaved ice place! It was seriously as big as my head!!! and SO yummy. I'd have to say as good as bahama bucks(:

Curt & I have been wanting to start hiking

while we're here in Cache Valley. Don't know why we

haven't before, but we finally got to go yesterday after

talking about it for months.

It was quite the adventure! We decided to go on the

Richards Hollow's hike up Blacksmith Fork Canyon.

The hike in its entirety is a little over 5 miles (I believe one way) but a little over 1 mile into it there is supposed to be a 25 ft. waterfall. That's why we chose this hike and were only going to hike up to the waterfall and back.

So we drove up the canyon only to find a gate blocking off the road to get to our trailhead. We decided to just take a little jot up the road and maybe we'd run into the trailhead. After 30 minutes of that and soaking in the beautiful day we decided to turn back and take the trail that was right by our car. Right when we made it back we saw a park ranger & decided to ask him if he knew how far up the trail it was to Richards Hollow's.

He explained that it was a mile to a mile and a half up the road and there'd be a sign on our left for it.

So we looked @ each other and decided to give it another shot.

An hour and 15 min later we reach the trailhead. That park ranger must have his markings off b/c that's like 3-4 miles of road.

But we were excited to finally see the sign and really "began" our hike there. Not 10 minutes into it the stinkin' trail was cut off by the raging stream. Unfortunately, it was going way too fast for us to cross and there didn't appear to be an easy way around. So due to the time we headed back down the mountain and hit the long walk back to the car.

It'd be a pleasant hike if we could've just driven up to the trailhead, but surprisingly we really had a ball together!

We got some great shots and we'll have to try it again when the water's not so high!

Curt wants to hike about twice a month, I'm not much of a fan as I thought I'd be so I'm thinking more like once a month(:

I'm a little late making this post, but I knew I had to anyways!

About 3 years ago 4 couples

(Greg & Stacy Bredthauer, Matt & Holly Innis, Cody and Jen Gunnell, and Curt & myself)

moved into our ward the exact same Sunday. We all met with the Bishop as a group and have gotten to know each other & form friendships these last few years.

Well, sadly 2 of these couples are moving this summer off to dental & chiropractic school leaving the Innis' and us in aggie village FOREVER(:

We sure will miss them.

So we decided it'd be fun to all get together and

do one last thing...for those of you who know Logan, we

CLEANED THE SINK @ ANGIES!

(It's a local restaurant that fills an actual sink to the brim with ice cream, bananas, whip cream, and toppings of your choice. If you finish you get a lovely sticker!)

Well we sure hope at least(:

It's looking like another week of rain, but we'll take it over

the snow & sure have enjoyed the little sunshine!

Thought it'd be fun to post our beginning summer traditions!

First off, we always love to plant our flowers!

I'm lucky enough to work with them all day and usually

at the end of a planting season my boss sends us home with

the left overs! Always a real treat!

So this first round is pansies!

We thought it'd be fun this year to add some patio lights

and have really loved them! Just trying everything

we can to spruce up our little apartment(:

Lastly, Curt was so cute the other day! He comes home for lunch and has been so nice & makes the bed and unloads the dishes while he's home so I don't have to. One of the days though he topped it off with this...

Made my day! Sure do LOVE him(:

Ramblings...

This post is going to be a little bit of everything,so here it goes!

I just finished my last day of class on Friday and I'm not sure it has hit me yet. It's weird to think that in my original plan I'd be graduating next week, but surprisingly I'm excited for 1 last year. I have been amazed at how much I still love school and honestly think I'll be sad when its over. Guess it's a good thing I'm going into teaching!

With that said, this is my 1st semester without a final exam. It's been a process of unit plans, clinicals and teaching, so I guess my experience has been a little backwards from previous, being busy throughout instead of stressed the last week! Still haven't figured out which I prefer, but all in all I am SO grateful for my education and the privilege it is!

Curt fortunately only has 2 finals!(: WOOHOO, 1 tomorrow evening and 1 Friday morning. So it'll be good that I'm starting work full time so I'll be out of his hair while he crams! He is a rock! I'm so proud of him and the efforts he puts into our marriage, the church, school & work. He's recently decided to switch majors. He'll no longer be going into watershed science, which in a sense I'm a little grateful for b/c I couldn't even explain it! But he's decided to switch into the medical field and will now be getting a degree in exercise science and then onto PA school we'll go! Thankfully he's been mostly working on generals, so it shouldn't set him too far back. I am thrilled for him and his decision and grateful for him thinking of a career that will be much more family friendly then working in the middle of no where for weeks at a time. It's exciting too b/c E.S. was my 1st major and I also wanted to go to PA school. So it'll be a dream we'll both get to live. And I'll be able to help him out with the classes I have taken in that major. I'm sure the road won't be easy, but I'll sure be doing my best to support him & encourage him over the next little while. He'll be getting his CNA certification this summer and will hopefully find work with that and be relieved from his not so fun, but much needed job now! I love him

Some exciting family news...Curt's brother Ammon received his mission call and will be going to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! We're so proud of him and his decision to serve the Lord. It'll be crazy, once he leaves in August we will have 3 brothers out at the same time. Then come Dec/Jan Jordan will come home and not long after Jared will be home too. Before we know it Ammon will have been gone a year!(:

Well we sure do miss our family and will be missing all of our friends who are moving out this summer. Time goes by so quickly! We have made some great memories and hope to keep up with everyone even though life is changing! Thanks for all your support and love!

I love today! We were able to hear an amazing testimony yesterday of the importance of Easter. I know that Christ lives and that this day years ago was one of the greatest and most meaningful days in all of history. I love that the church provides us with such meaningful tools to help us continue in & stregthen our testimonies.

~Conference Weekend~

For conference weekend Curt headed home to spend time with his family! We thought it'd be perfect timing for him to

get to be with his brothers before Ammon leaves

but it also ended up being great timing to be there with his

Dad while recovering. Unfortunately, he didn't really

care about taking pictures so i don't have any from his

trip. He said it was over 100 degrees one day and had

to come back to rain and snow. So with that mixture he's caught

a cold, poor guy):

While Curt was in AZ my Mom came up and we had a

wonderful time! We got to catch up, shop, eat, shop some more

and have lots of laughs and memories made.

I love being this age and having my Mom as a best friend!

Here's some of our activities...

Gardner's Village

(I've never been before, but LOVED it!)

Mom said this was her birthday trip so for her gift I took her

to get our nails done. We don't do that very often, actually

very rarely does it happen, but it was a blast!

Then Mom taught me some of her sewing skills and showed me how

to embellish shirts. I think they turned out so cute!

She is so talented! I tried one of my own after she left

on Tuesday and it's AWFUL! Definitely need her by my side

walking me through things like this.

I ordered a lanyard online for my student teaching that is

made from super cute fabric. When she saw

it she teased me for BUYING it and then showed me

how to make them on my own. Surprisingly it was much

easier than I thought and will be fun to have

a bunch of them to change things up a bit!

Thank you SO much Mom for the great visit! Miss you every day.

I always hate that empty feeling after family/visitors leave

your home and it feels so empty!

I have been thinking a lot about life lately

and how everything just seems fall into place.

Whether that place be hoped for or not expected,

I'm learning to be

more like my Curt and always look on the bright side

or simply bite my tongue & not complain.

On Sunday we were blessed to hear some great talks in church!

One in particular was on gratitude!

It too has been on my mind lately as Curt and I are noticing our lives changing and stepping into new stages.

School will be over faster than

I could have imagined, even being in a 5 year program, now that

the time is winding down I know I'm going to miss it.

Seeing Curt excel in school, work, and basically everything he does has been another great joy!

I don't know how he does it with his schedule.

When hard days come he never complains,

I need to be more like him.

But the talk our EQ president referenced really hit home. SO if you have time, read it! I promise it will only make your day better and help you realize how blessed we all our!(:

Lately...

Fortunately, even though school's been busy we've found some time to enjoy ourselves! For Valentine's Day poor Curt had a trig. exam from 7-9PM so that kind of ruined dinner plans. BUT, we did celebrate a couple days earlier by going out to eat @ the Beehive Grill! It's our new favorite here in Logan

(Curt says it's mainly due to them not serving fry sauce,

We're both Ketchup fans)

but on Valentine's Day Curt surprised me with these...

If you know me I LOVE pretty dishes! And he did so well, I LOVE the color he picked! And I also love jars/bottles/pitchers, of any kind, and he was so cute & filled it with my favorite peanut m&m's!(:

although it came in the mail a few weeks earlier,

we just couldn't wait to open it!

I think we've watched all of season 10 and then re-watched

some of it...it's seriously hilarious!

Curt's hair was getting a little long, I love his curls, but he's been liking to keep it short. He said his Mom

used to tease him and call his long, curly hair

I died laughing when he told me that, it's kind of true!!!

Anyways, so I finally caved & sent him to

get it cut.

Curt was ecstatic! He took this fly rod building

course last year, but the tip of his pole

broke off. So here we go for round 2!

He was hilarious when the mail man knocked on

And he's really, really good at building/putting things together.

Well we just got done enjoying a nice long weekend,

thanks to President's Day!

We slept in, did homework, window shopped, and grabbed

a bite to eat! It was much needed, especially

because we're bummed we won't get to go home

for Spring Break this year):

We just hope that the weather goes back to a couple weeks

ago, with nice clear blue skies, 50 degree sunshine and

no scraping the snow off the car!

Life is good and we just ended a great weekend of Stake Conference! It's amazing that the Lord always

knows EXACTLY what we need to hear!

We're so grateful for the gospel,

don't know what we'd do with out it!

Sorry, no pictures this time. We are now on our 4th week of the semester & beginning to understand what our parents meant by not ever getting to see each other): It's quite the change, but I think we're slowly getting used to it.Curt is taking Chemistry, Trigonometry, Climate Change, & an upper level English course...I feel bad for him, but he's doing well and always makes me laugh in our short moments together. At the end of this month he'll get to begin his Fly Rod Building class which he loves. This will be his 2nd time taking it and it will hopefully be a great avenue for him to de-stress. As for me, I have finished all of my core PE credits and I know how ironic that sounds b/c PE is not supposed to be hard, but now I truly appreciate my teachers,

I had no clue what they had to do to get their degree. I'm fully underway with my education classes and unfortunately most of it does not apply to PE. But it's not too bad, I'm finally realizing the joys of not worrying/cramming for exams, just getting used to writing lesson plans and what not. It's been fun and thankfully

I get to take a volleyball class for the 1st time! I love it, but wish Cody was my teacher instead! We're currently enjoying the joys of having our taxes done & FAFSA filed! What a relief, if it weren't for Rachel helping me in the past and Roxy I'd still be lost with both systems. We're missing our families, & hope we'll get to spend a warm spring break with them. hope they know how much we love them & think about them. (p.s. a new goal for me is to keep in touch better w/ mysiblings, so if you get a call PLEASE answer, want to hear how things are going) I thinks that is the news as of late. I've become a horrible, awful, non-existent journal writer lately so maybe I'll print this and glue it in to cover

the past month...so cheating(: Hope January treated you all well and have a fabulous February ahead! On a side note, I gave curt his valentine's gift early...season 10 of Top Gear. He was surprised and so happy! I love their humor & vocabulary.

I think I'll start talking like them and say things like "I need to phone my Mum!"Ha,it cracks us up(:

My freshmen year here @ Utah State a bunch of our friends got together and had this bright idea to go trash bag sledding! well one of those friends, Candace, has moved back up with her husband & we couldn't be more excited! So we decided to live those days again and took our husbands! It was a blast!(:

Christmas!

Better late than never I guess!(: Curt & I were so fortunate to go home for Christmas...we weren't going to be able to b/c of work, but it came through & was a huge blessing. How we love & miss our Mesa! These were taken near the end of our trip. While we were in the temple with Curt's parents I guess it snowed. You wouldn't believe it b/c there was no snow on the ground, but for the sky to actually produce snowflakes is a miracle. Curt & I found it quite ironic that we came home to get away from the snow & still ended up with it(: No, it was really beautiful most of the time, sunny and warm!

Here is the evidence, 4 peaks! We took this out on a drive with Curt's mom and brother Ammon!

B/C we thought we'd be staying in Logan for Christmas, when we found out Curt actually got the time off we wanted to make it a surprise. Curt's parents knew b/c they were going to bring the family up if we couldn't come down, but we got to surprise his brothers and my family. We surprised his brothers by waking them up that morning tickling their feet, Jake's reaction was priceless.!!! We thought it'd be fun for Curt to dress up as Santa to surprise my parents. So we went to their house and no one answered. Good thing I still have the key so we went in and it appeared no one was home. We knew my dad was at work but hoped my mom would be home. We noticed though that her door was shut so we thought maybe she's gone back to bed. So curt jingles his bells, knocks on her door and played the whole Santa part to a "T"!!! He did the HO,HO,HO thing and said that there was a gift for her out on his sleigh. It took her FOREVER to come out, we were afraid she had called the cops, but eventually she came out, saw Curt's eyes through his gid-up (sp?) and she screamed! It was priceless!(: wish we had it on film...

Christmas Morning we spent with Curt's family! It was wonderful. We got up, read in Luke 2, had family prayer, opened gifts (THANK YOU, THANK YOU!) and had yummmy cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Not too long after Curt's brother Jared called who's on his mission in Calgary and it was so great to hear from him, he is doing amazing! Then we had a Christmas dinner with Curt's moms side the Gross', also great to see everyone and then headed over to my moms side and again loved the company. Later that evening we got to talk to my brother Jordan who's on his mission in the Dominican Republic! He sounded great too! Sure miss those boys!

A huge to-do on our list this Christmas was to get a picture with all of our grandparents! We are a fortunate and probably rare case and have all of grandparents still living!

We sure are grateful for all the time we got to spend with our families. Wish I had more pictures with everyone in it. We enjoyed New Year's playing games with my siblings and many more fun times watching old family videos throughout the trip. Can't forget about the great food, still bummed about not getting bahama bucks but there will always be a next time.

Our parents were so kind and sent us up with loads of citrus! A major reason we miss winters in AZ...

After trying out Curt's moms kitchen aid juicer I fell in love and my sweet mom got me one too. So the day after we got home I began juicing...3 days later I had it all done!

Unfortunately, we haven't been home for 2 weeks and the OJ is almost out. Who would have thought 3 days of juicing would be gone in 10 days. But there's nothing like fresh OJ! Thankfully we can span the lemon juice out a little longer!

What an AMAZING weekend! Our friends Ian & Holly Silva invited us down to Salt Lake and we had an absolute blast! We first ate dinner at P.F. Changs...can I say how delicious it was!!! It was mine & Ian's first time & we were all very pleased!

Then we got to walk around temple square to see the beautiful lights! This picture is from the top floor of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building!

Then we also got the chance to go on a carriage ride. It was well worth it & we were lucky enough to get the only carriage with a heater in it!

Then we headed over to the Galivan (sp?) center and ice skated! It was Curt's first time and he did great! He has a sore back side, but I was impressed!

We ordered it to go and everyone teased me about it being my cake...too bad by the end of the night I was still so full that I was the only one who didn't try it): But they all said it was incredible.

Our Favorite Season!

I'm finally updating from the past little while, so here's some pictures from what's been going on! The 2 above are from Curt's birthday(: He got to go fishing & we enjoyed dinner @ Red Robin!

Then we were invited to go to the Pumpkin Walk with our good friends the Gunnell's! Always a lot of fun

I got these little (well quite large) babies in the mail today!!!

(These are the finished product from the quilt my mom made when she was here)

We sent it home with her & my grandma Welker did the binding! It's absolutely perfect!

Isn't this fabric a riot?!!! So much fun(:

Here is the reverse side, a beautiful fall design that my mom did all alone with NO PATTERN!!! She's so talented!

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!

And she's so cute and surprised me with my favorite cereal & tootsie rolls! The cereal is impossible to find anywhere but Target & unfortunately Logan is without one!

(might sound silly, but if you know me, I LOVE cereal!!!)

On another holiday note, my sweet Curt was so cute & entertained my idea of making a few halloween crafts. I found the idea on a craft blog and just loved the Frankenstein!!!

As for now, I think we're all set for our Halloween Decor!!!! Thanks mom, we love you! Hope all is well, just finished up a crazy test week and looking forward to GENERAL CONFERENCE...can't believe it's this time of year already!

A Great Visit!

This past week we got to have a wonderful visit from my Mom, Stephanie, & baby Lexee! Mom spent the first week with us while Steph & Lexee spent time visiting their family, then they joined us for the last weekend! We had a blast! We have so many wonderful memories from it & I wish I had taken more pictures!

First off, Mom made us this beautiful quilt! We had a ball picking out fabric. She is so talented! It's a halloween/fall quilt & I adore it! Mom had a great idea of making it a 3 generation quilt, she did most of the work, measuring, cutting, sewing, basically the mind behind it all!(: I sewed one block (grateful I didn't do more and ruin it) and then we had it quilted and mom has it back home with her for my Grandma Welker to bind! It will definitely be a treasure in our home forever! (I'll post pictures of it when it's completely done!)

We had many adventures with mom! We went to this little boutique shop and I found this beautiful pitcher! On our way home we passed by wild sunflowers & stopped and cut a few! They were gorgeous, but little did we know that we'd have a caterpillar, CENTIPEDE, and 2 spiders the next day!):

After a full week with mom of sewing, laughing, shopping, a football game, and fun Steph & Lexee came! We played and played and laughed some more! Curt was so cute with Lexee! They played on the swings and read books and drove around the grocery store like maniacs in the cart! She was a ball of fun, we really enjoyed having her here! We had a shooting act. and everyone came along! Steph loved it and it was so much fun seeing Curt teach her! We also went to the demolition derby! Always loads of fun! I'm sure they all think we live in a hokie town but I think we all had a great time! Mom took some pictures of Curt & I that we really enjoyed & while we were out by the fence horses came out from, it seemed like, no where and were very friendly. Lexee wasn't quite sure how to react, but did pretty well! (The rest of the pictures are all from this little paragraph!)

Somehow this quilt picture ended up at the bottom, but this is the halloween side!(: Mom did such a fabulous job!(: We sure loved having family here and are so grateful they'd take the time to come see us! You're always welcome(all of our family)...we love you and can't wait for Thanksgiving!

AZ, Softball, Ward Campout, Labor Day Weekend!!!

I'm quite late posting most of these pictures so there's going to be a lot if them(:

Part 1...Arizona!!!

About mid August I was able to go back home to Arizona to visit family. Unfortunately Curt couldn't get work off so that was hard and I missed him terribly, but I sure made lots of memories. One of my favorite things being home was spending time with the babies! This visit was my 1st time meeting the newest (THE 1st BOY) little Calin...what a sweetheart! We now have 3 little one's on the Sunderhaus side and they are all so adorable, but as you can see for the life of us we couldn't get a good picture with all 3, so this will do.

Little Lexee was a hoot! She is at my favorite stage where she is learning so many new things. This video of her was so dang cute. She finally figured out how to go down the slide by herself and she would go around and around just giggling away! It was such a fun thing to see!!!

I also got to spend time with my Aunt Cina (she is so fun) and got to meet Uncle Kyle! Love him, and am so excited to have him around and involved in the family!

HUGE THANK YOU to my parents for the amazing week! loved being home and spending time with them. I love them both dearly and feel so blessed for all they teach me!!!(:

Mom I need the pictures with us girls!!!

Can't forget Curt's family! I got to spend some time with them too and had a blast! A house full of boys is just what I'm used to! We finally were able to get me some of the family pictures from December and we also got to go to Jake's football game (curt's youngest brother)!!!

Part 2...City League Softball!

Curt has played in city league softball all summer with some friends in the ward! They did so well all summer and won all their games up until the championship): it was a sad ending but such a fun activity every tuesday night! I loved watching him and am so proud of all the things he does!

Part 3....Ward Campout!

Curt and I went up a night early with our Bishop and his wife and really had some fun! It rained both nights we were there, but we never got too wet! It sure made for beautiful sunsets! We got to go shooting, i love this picture of bishop and sue!

Curt tried SO SO hard to be like survivor man and make a fire with a bow! He got so close and was very determined! Don't have to worry if we ever are in a scary situations!(:

The Bishopric made a scrumptious breakfast and we got to play and visit=FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

Part 4...Labor Day Weekend!

We were able to go camping in Mantua with our Bishop's family.! I'm so sad we forgot the camera cause we did lots of fun things! AND i actually went fishing for my first time and caught a few! I don't think I've seen Curt more proud!!!(: haha, just glad they took the fish off the hook for me! We visited and played lots of games, were spoiled by their delicious cooking and their generosity, and laughed a ton! They take such good care of us. That was over the weekend and then just today we got together with lots of friends and played wiffle ball in the yard and had a riot! We also got together later for a bbq and really had a great time with one another! We're so blessed to have such great friends that feel like family here! AND best of all I got to hear from my baby brother and am SO proud of all he's doing...he sounds so happy!

SO it's been a great few weeks and now school's back in. I'm looking forward to staying busy and getting into the groove of things again! Lots to be thankful for(:

THE NEWEST ADDITION TO OUR FAMILY!!!!

We were so blessed to find this car for the great deal we did.

We've been talking & praying about the decision of buying a car for a while now, mainly to build credit and prepare in the future for a family, and everything came about so smoothly.

So here she is, a 2004 Acura TSX

(at the dealer still)

I call her a she because I tend to name cars, Curt on the other hand thinks I'm crazy!

STILL WORKING ON A NAME THAT WILL DO, so far I call her baby LOU, LOU!!!!

FINALLY MADE IT HOME & ARE THRILLED WITH HER PERFORMANCE!!!

DON'T FORGET RUBY IN THE BACK...STILL HAVE A PIECE OF MY HEART WITH HER. WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE SPECIAL MEMORIES WITH OUR 1st CAR!(:

Just wanted to brag real fast about my cute Curt! He's been fishing with our Bishop the past 2 saturdays and has come out with huge/mean fish like this. They keep trying to get me to go, but knowing this guy has like 7 layers of sharp teeth, the fact that I've never really been fishing before and that they go before 6am on a saturday, I doubt it will ever happen... BUT maybe I'll surprise myself one of these days and join them!

This last saturday we got to go to the Cache County Fair with Cody & Jen and Curt was so fun and wanted to play a few games. So we got him his tokens and he played one game where he had to toss rings around old glass coke bottles and this one where he had one chance to throw a dart to pop a balloon! This picture unfortunately was delayed, but he popped the balloon and the next picture will show the prize...

He won me two beautiful pink roses! We had to laugh about them, if you can't tell their a little fake(:

We had a blast, and then a busy sunday and Curt took me to the airport to spend a week with family,play with the babies and to meet our new nephew Calin...I'm so excited!!! Wish he could have come too, I'm sure missing him!(:

July Happenings!

I have to begin with a warning that this is a LONG post with LOTS of pictures...

July has been full of busy schedules & lots of fun!

Hopefully this will be in order like I planned.

These 1st three pictures are from our 2nd ANNIVERSARY celebration! We both worked all day & had meetings, but were able to go to this quaint little Italian restaurant Gia's! It was delectable(:

I got Curt a watch for sundays now that he'll need it & thankfully he loved it, and he got me these beautiful fuchsia roses & Clinique Happy!

From the 2nd to the 10th we were able to watch our former Bishop's kids while they went to Hawaii. We finally got to see Toy Story 3 with them & loved it and had a memorable week. Poor Curt has been working so much overtime that we have tried to enjoy every second. The kids sure kept us doing just that!

July has also been full of tons of fireworks! We have watched 3 shows, 2 in Logan (1 for the 4th & 1 for Pioneer Day and 1 in Hyde Park that our Bishop puts on every year). Hyde Park's was by far the best! We LOVE fireworks!

On July 12th we also got to celebrate my birthday! We had work again, but Curt was able to get off early & took me to Texas Roadhouse! YUM!!(: and I decided to take a picture of the loot of things I got! Thank you to everyone, I'm such a lucky girl!

Last weekend I was able to help my friend Brianna sell @ the Farmer's Market here in Logan...I had to show off her talent!

I also had to brag @ these babies! Curt & I went shopping on our day off on Friday and found $80 dollar jeans for him for $2.50, that's right $2.50 and 3 pairs of them too!

To celebrate Pioneer Day Weekend we went camping with 2 couples in our ward the Bredthauer's and LeBaron's and had a great time! Curt went fishing and did such a great job! I enjoyed dipping my feet in the water while we watched him! Isn't he cute?!!! We played a little with the horseshoes, had a never ending game of Phase 10 and enjoyed the company of friends!

We saved the best for last! We were blessed with the news of this beautiful new little nephew Calin Joshua Sunderhaus on July 7th! So glad he & Rachel are doing well! Can't wait to meet him~

My FIRST DEMOLITION DERBY EVER!!!(:

It was an absolute blast.

I swear it was the best $8 I've ever spent on entertainment.

We met up with our friends the Ellett's, Bricker's, & Fackrell's!
